10/13/07 - Life Journal - Speaking of Tongues

And they all were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
Acts 2:4

On the day of Pentecost (50 days after the sabbath of Passover) the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus before His ascension came down upon the twelve. The Spirit caused them to speak in "other tongues." Unlike the pure form of communication mentioned later, in this case the speaking in other tongues caused the people of all nations to heard them in their native tongue.

The Gospel, like the Spirit inspired tongues at Pentecost, is the true experience that can unite the people of every nation. It is the universal language of love. I have to do everything possible to teach this language to anyone when the opportunity arises.

God, fill me with the Spirit so that every ear will open to and comprehend you word.
