11/28/07 - Life Journal - I'm a Tentmaker

For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
1 Thessalonians 2:9

Paul and his merry band of evangelicals purpose was spreading the Gospel. Period. No permanent positions on a new church plant network, not as traveling motivational speakers going from conference to conference. These were guys with real jobs, Paul was a tentmaker, that took care of themselves. They gave 100% of themselves without taking anything in return. This was the missional church of Acts. Give all of yourself. Support yourself. No burden of responsibility on those you're reaching (totally unlike the Levites of the Jews). Preach His Gospel. Done.

That's my job. Spread the Good News. Possibly suggest methods of study to help new believers feed themselves. Give praise. Move on. No accolades, no paychecks, no titles, no best live's now. I'm a tentmaker, nothing more.

Lord, I pray that we can one day see that everything else will turn to dust. It just doesn't matter.
