"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
Jeremiah 17:7,8

This is an awesome analogy of God being there for us in times of trouble. If we, the tree, plant ourselves close to God, ie. abide in Him and put our trust in Him, we will be rooted to the source of living water needed to get us through. When we are flourishing in times of drought we won't be able to help but bear fruit as others see us shine in the darkness of trouble.

Too often we get mired in worry, wondering how we're going to get through whatever situation we find ourselves in. That is not how He wants us to live. Put your troubles before Him and spread your roots into His living water, He will give you the strength and the answers needed to get you through. Where ever you may be, God's water isn't far if you seek Him.

Let me try another little anecdote. Sheri's parents have some huge oak trees on the side of their house. They also happen to live in the rainfall dead zone in Clearwater. It NEVER rains there! These majestic oaks seem to weather it all, seemingly without nourishment. A situation arose, where there toilet in the guest bathroom was malfunctioning. It was constantly getting clogged. (I know, nice mental image, bear with me) A plumber was called and he tried everything to no avail. Eventually it was decided that the toilet would have to be removed. It was then that they got to the "root" of the problem. You see, this big old oak tree couldn't do it on his own. A root sent forth from it worked its way up through the foundation of the house and down into the toilet's drain. Talk about seeking for living water!

I guess my point is, no matter how dried up and desolate a time you're going through, His water is there. Sometimes in the least place you'd expect to find it. You only have to look.

I've always liked the analogy in this verse. There is a very similar picture in Psalm 1.
