8/10/07 - Life Journal - Learn From the Past

Thus says the Lord, "Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths. Where the good way is and walk in it; And you will find peace for your souls."
Jeremiah 6:16

The past is the most valuable "textbook" we have to guide us as we chart the course for His church. There are the stirrings of major conflict and instead of joining sides we have to work it out as the church universal. Not Protestant, Catholic, Reformed, Calvinist, Arminian, Wesleyan, Emergent, Fundamental, Baptist, Anabaptist, etc..

The apostles didn't have any guidebooks to help them. They had Him! They walked with Him and learned from Him, and what he used was God's word in His ears and God's inspired words in the O.T.

That's who we need to be learning from - God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. His inspired words in the O.T. and His words in the writings of the Apostles - The Ancient Path.
