Why must people say this?

"In Florida, it can be raining on one side of the street and not the other!"

Doesn't anyone realize how dumb that sounds? Every single rainstorm in history had an "outer edge". They all started and ended somewhere and yes sometimes that might have been right in the middle of a road. Think about it, all storms move. So if a storm is moving to the east doesn't it make sense that it would stop raining on the west side of your street before the east side?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Hello?
