Striper Fishing in Georgia
We had a blast striped bass fishing in Lake Hartwell, a portion of the Savannah river created when the Army Corps of Engineers dammed the river in a Hydroelectric power generation project. There are actually three in a chain, Hartwell, Richard B. Russell and Clark Hill (the name of Clark was changed to Strom Thurmand but don't tell the Georgia boys that). You can't get striper this far south in Florida but they run all the way up the coast to at least New York that I know of for sure. The striper shown above ran around 12#.
We were trolling with our jigs at about 42' in around 180' of water. Yes, 180' of water. The weather couldn't have been more awesome, the guide was great and we caught some fish. What could be better. The striper even tasted awesome.
Pictured below with our fish are (l to r) Jeff, me, Rick, and Cory.
More pics from the vacation when they come in!
